BRCA-1 Associated Protein-1 (BAP1), is a deubiquitinating enzyme to inhibit protein break down and alter the function of other proteins via targeted degradation, subcellular localization,or activity. Germline and somatic mutations in the BAP1 gene have been associated with a variety of aggressive cancers, predominantly uveal melanoma, cutaneous melanoma, malignant mesothelioma and renal cell carcinoma.
